Employment Hubs

Fremont has several major employment hubs within its borders, with industries ranging from technology and manufacturing to healthcare and hospitality. Technology and life sciences jobs are concentrated in Fremont’s Warm Springs, Bayside, and Ardenwood districts, whereas retail and hospitality jobs are concentrated in the Fremont’s City Center area and historic districts, and in retail nodes spread throughout the community. The City Center area also serves as a major regional cluster of healthcare employment stemming from Washington Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, and Sutter Health’s facilities, along with numerous private medical, dental, and optometric practices.

Anchored by Tesla’s Fremont Factory, the area immediately surrounding has been designated as an Innovation District, an area that supports the creation of new businesses and development of new technologies by leveraging the physical infrastructure and human capital that exist. The Warm Springs District includes many marquee employers including Seagate, Western Digital, and ThermoFisher Scientific, along with a host of startups and high-growth companies.

Major employers include Lam Research, UPS, Delta Electronics, and Mentor Graphics. While employment in Bayside skews heavily to technology, manufacturing, and logistics, the district also includes the Pacific Commons Shopping Center, a major regional retail center spanning 840 acres.
